Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will face Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League Preliminary round.

This was announced November 09, during the qualifying rounds’ draw.

Initially, the preliminary round was slatted for October but a postponement was inevitable due to the on-going Coronavirus.

The first legs of the competition will take place between November 27th-29th with the second legs slatted for December 4th-6th.

A family face in Salim Jamal Magoola will be up against Vipers when the two sides meet. Magoola is a Ugandan goalkeeper who is the undisputed first choice at the Sudanese side.

After two unsuccessful attempts, Vipers will be hoping to reach the group stages of African club football’s lucrative competition.

They have always bowed out at the qualifying stage, losing to Enyimba (2016) and CS Constantine (2018).

This is the second time the Venoms will face a Sudanese side in the competition after eliminating El Merriekh in the preliminary round of the 2018 edition.

For Al Hilal, they featured in last season’s group stages alongside Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia, FC Platinum from Zimbabwe and Al Ahly of Egypt.

The aggregate winners between Vipers and Al Hilal Omdurman will face the winners of the game between Asante Kotoko of Ghana and Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou.
