Alfred Duncan give details on why he is not part of black stars.
The Fiorentina midfielder was among 5 players who have dropped out of the Ghana squad to take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Fiorentina midfielder Alfred Duncan has sensationally stated that he would decline call-up from Ghana if he wants.
The 28-year-old former Inter Milan midfielder says he won’t need to fake an injury to opt-out of the Ghana squad.
Last week, reports on various portals claimed the central midfielder has decided not to honour Ghana’s invitation to play in the qualifiers against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast and Harare.
A section of the Ghanaian media had earlier reported the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup Ghana midfielder but he featured for La Viola in their Serie A game against Napoli over the weekend, leaving many to question the situation of his reported injury while some claim he faked an injury to skip the international call.
But, Duncan has taken to social media to explain the situation.
“With regards to my absence from the national team I spoke with the head coach of the Black Stars but there was a miscommunication somewhere AND I didn’t say I was injured. Moreover, if I want to refuse a call up I will do so and not by faking injury,” he wrote.
He is capped 10 times by Ghana at the senior level.
