The coach for Ghanaian football giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been in the news in recent times pointing out the ills in the club he managed in the just ended season. Kumasi Asante Kotoko lost the just ended Ghana Premier League to their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and were eliminated by Berekum Chelsea in the MTN FA cup, conderming the club to a season without a continental campaign.
In an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, coach Mariano Baretto indicated Kumasi Asante Kotoko is only a big name but not a big club,
I know the fans won’t be happy with this but I must say it. Asante Kotoko is only a big name and not a not a big club. “A big team must have their own physiotherapy room, a strong youth team, philosophy, video room amongst other infrastructure.” He is quoted to have said in the said interview. He further bemourned the club’s lack of infrastructural development “I will be insulting myself if I continue working without a physio room, training room and technical room. There’s no way I’ll continue working under those circumstances.”
