MATCH REPORTS: HEARTS PASS THE TEST AGAINST SHARKS.

Accra Hearts of Oak have booked themselves a ticket to the semis of the 2021 FA Cup after a slim win over Elmina Sharks in their quarter-final game at the Nduom Stadium on Saturday evening 

The home team with the first attempt taking the game at the Phobians right from the start of the game resulting into a free kick but was cleared out by Mohammed Alhassan. Temporal hold up early in the game after Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was intentionally elbowed by an opposing player which called for medical attention. Elmina Sharks continue mounting pressure on their guests resulting into a corner kick. Suraj Ibrahim floated a long one but was collected calmly by goalkeeper Richard Attah. Hearts of Oak starts to serge forward in a quest for their first opportunity after Ibrahim Salifu brilliant display, twist and turn and shot a powerful hit but was denied by goalkeeper Joseph Essam. Ibrahim Salifu is on top of his game but he’s been handed a difficult day in office with series of harsh challenges mounted over sending him down to the turf for two times after 30 minutes of action  Frederick Ansah Botchway with a glorious opportunity on the 30th minute to hand the ‘Phobians’ the lead but only resulted in a wasted effort. The ‘Fearsome Sharks’ with a free kick at a very advantageous position to get their opener but was a wasted effort.  Hearts of Oak looked like they have taken the lead after Daniel Afriyie Barnieh tapped into the net but foul the goalkepper in the process. Goalless at half time. In the second half, Hearts of Oak came really strong in the second half with Caleb Amankwah’s free kick falling onto the head of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who nearly snatched the lead with the header but was piled off by goalkeeper Joseph Essam.

 Elmina Sharks looks a bit slow in attack making less attempts doing all they could to frustrate the Phobians in the second half. The ‘Phobians’ go for goal again as Ansah Botchway chipped in a pass to locate Ibrahim Salifu but an opposing player gives no way and guides to goalkick. It ended goalles after regulation time and the game travels to extra time. James Bissue trying to effect what he does best having break on a counter and sent in a long range but went wide off the crossbar. Bissue giving the Hearts defence a tough headache since coming on having sent in another go bound strike but was blocked by Mohammed Alhassan. The Rainbow Club finally breaks in the early stages of the second extra after Caleb Amankwah sent in a well-taken free kick to hand his side the lead.
