The skipper for the Kumasi based Division 1 League side Asokwa Deportivo- Joseph Gordon has labeled the play OF Asante Kotoko team as lacking “eagerness” and players not showing enough “commitment” in their MTN FA Cup round of 16 game played yesterday in which Kotoko beat their city rivals 2 goals to 1 thanks to two first half goals from Fabio Gama and Evans Adomako. The game saw Asokwa Deportivo create alot of chances but failed to utilise them.
In an interview with Kumasi based Radio station Pure Fm he opined that the standard of play of the Ghana premier League chasers Asante Kotoko was nothing to write home about. “I saw no sign of eagerness in the Kotoko playing body and it was as if they were not commitment and ready to play the FA Cup match”. The hosts took a 12th minute lead as defender for Asokwa Deportivo – Emmanuel Gyan Kwame pushed Andy Kumi the target man for Kotoko in the penalty box of Asokwa Deportivo. Fabio Gama scored the resulting penalty. On the 37th minute, Asante Kotoko winger Evans Adomako lashed onto an Imoro Ibrahim cross in the 18 yard box to double the lead for hosts. Seth Kwadwo assisted Asamoah Boateng on the 55th minute as Deportivo pulled one back.
In a related development Joseph Gordon accuses Eric Owusu Prempeh the officiating officiating for the Kotoko – Asokwa Deportivo round 16 tie for aiding in their defeat to Kotoko. He said indecisions from referee culminated in their defeat.
