Ebusua Dwarfs Coach Ernest Thompson eyes Top Six finish
Ebusua Dwarfs head coach, Ernest Thompson says he is confident his side will finish the league in top 6 spot which is their main objective for the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League.
The Abontoa Bontoa Lads yesterday played out an intensed 1-1 all draw with Techiman Eleven at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in matchday 19.
Dwarfs opened the ascoring on the 13th minute when Michael Asamoah smashed home the opener to give the home side an early advantage lead.
Eleven Wonders quickly reponded back in a grand style on the 15th minute when Clement Boahene scored the equaliser just two minutes after Dwarfs goal.
Despite the draw, Thompson said their ambition of fighting for the top six has not changed.
“Right from the commencement of the league, I think we set a target of at least being in the top six.
“We still stick by that and that is what I said earlier.
“That is why we roped in these guys [new players] to come and help achieve the target.
“We have not actually altered our target, we are actually maintaining the target and by the close of the league we should in the top six.
“Currently we are lying 9th on the league log which is not a bad position.
“We could have done better, still there is more room for improvement.
“We know second round is going to be very tough and we will go back to the drawing board to correct everything that went wrong in the first round.
“We signed these players with the sole aim of beefing up the team in positions we realized we had challenges at a point in time.
“So it is a very strategic signings.
“Doing strategic signings does not mean the players can just come and walk into the team.
“It means that they have to come and work hard as well.
“As much as it is a strategic signing, you don’t just walk into a team.
“You still have to fight for your position and make sure that you make a name for yourself as well.
“Yes the signings are very strategic but they don’t just walk into the team.
“It will be based on their performance as well.” Coach Ernest Thompson said.
Ebusua Dwarfs sit 9th on the league log with 24 points after matchday 19.
