2021 GPL Matchday 16 Report:WAFA 3-1 Karela United; Academy Boys thump leaders at home

WAFA returned to winnings ways against Karela United in this matchday 16 fixture of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The academy lads recorded a 3-1 win against the Ayinese-based outfit  at the Sogakope WAFA park in this mid-week fixture

Kwame Boateng broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with the first goal of the game for Karela United.

WAFA star Augustine Boakye got the equalizer for the home side in the 20th minute.

Andrews Ntim scored in the 30th minute to help WAFA take the lead for the first time in the game.

The academy lads went into the break leading the tie by 2-1.

Just after recess, WAFA were awarded a penalty by the referee but the Karela United goalkeeper Yaw Ansah kept his side in the game as he saved Ibrahim’s Abukari’s spot-kick.

WAFA dominated possession in the half but were cautious in throwing away the lead.

Lawrence Agyekum sealed the win for the academy lads late in injury time as WAFA clinched all three points.

WAFA have accumulated 23 points following this win after matchday 16.
