20/21 GPL Matchday 15 Report:AshantiGold SC 4-0 Aduana Stars; Miners dismantle Ogya Boys to halt six game winless run

AshantiGold SC ended their six game run without a win with a whopping 4-0 emphatic win over Aduana Stars at the Len Clay Stadium earlier this afternoon in matchday 15 opener of the Ghana Premier League.

Both teams all had their starting line up boosted due to the return of some key players as centre-back Samed Ibrahim returned for Ashgold whiles Ivorian midfielder Flavien Kongoza and Yahya Mohammed all also started for the travellers today. 

Meanwhile, Aduana Stars missed the service of dependable defender Farouk Adams for this game due to suspension leaving a pair of Emmanuel Akuoko and Tijani Joshua in the heart of defence.

AshantiGold with a free kick, effected by right back Kwadwo Amoako but Joseph Addo reacted quickly to pile it out for the first corner kick of the game which was a wasted effort. 

Having returned in the selection today, a collide kept Aduana skipper Yahya Mohammed on the pitch resulting into a temporal hold up in Obuasi. 

Game continues as Stephen Bentil was played through with a fine pass leaving a one on one incident but his effort got denied by Joseph Addo once again preventing the home side from taking the lead. 

Aduana Stars awarded a free kick on the 18th minute looking to break the deadlock but was a wasted kick and only resulted in a restart.

On the 24th minute, the Miners were awarded a penalty of which former Heart of Lions skipper, Frank Akoto converted neatly to break the deadlock of the game.

Just five minutes from going ahead, AshantiGold doubled their lead here through Yaw Annor after a constant pressure on the former champions who still look unsettled in the game. 

The ‘Ogya’ lads tried any means possible to reduce the deficit sending in long balls to locate Yahya Mohammed and Bright Adjei upfield but the Ashgold backline always first at all the aerial tussles. 

In the second half, it was still the home team who were determining the pattern of play dictating all the pace of the game leaving a confused Aduana Stars on the pitch.

The ‘Aboa Kese3’ lads scores again to make it 3-0 kind courtesy David Abagna who registered his fourth in the ongoing season. 

Just and when many thought the game was nearing an end, David Abagna once again scored to mark his second and Ashgold’s fourth of the day. 

It finished 4-0 for AshantiGold SC in the end. The emphatic victory has sent them five places up as they currently sit 5th on the league log with 21 points.
