- Mamelodi Sundowns Defender and former Bafana Bafana player, Anele Ngcongca has died in a tragic accident in KwaZulu Natal. The 33-year old defender had been transferred from Mamelodi Sundowns to AmaZulu on loan at the time of his death.
The two Clubs in a statement wrote:
“Mamelodi Sundowns FC and AmaZulu Football Club and are saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former Bafana Bafana player, Anele Ngcongca.”
“On Monday (23 November 2020) morning reports surfaced that a South African footballer had lost his life in a car accident in KwaZulu Natal. It has since been confirmed that the player is in fact, the 33-year old defender Anele Ngcongca who had been transferred from Mamelodi Sundowns to AmaZulu on loan, “they jointly stated.
The two Clubs have ‘requested that maximum privacy be afforded to the Ngcongca family during this very difficult time and allow the pertinent authorities to conduct the relevant investigations.’
” AmaZulu FC and Mamelodi Sundowns FC extend their deepest condolences to the Ngcongca family, former clubs, teammates, supporters, and the broader football fraternity as well as everyone who was touched by the life of this exceptional football ambassador.”
