Zambia Women’s national team duo of strikers Hellen Mubanga and Rachel Nachula has arrived in Spain to join their Zaragoza CFF teammates.
The duo who were instrumental in the Copper Queens qualification to the Olympics were received by coach Nacho Bracero. They are expected to join their teammates in training on Monday.
The duo was scheduled to travel a week earlier but their flight was canceled and finally left for Spain on Friday afternoon.
Zaragoza completed the signing of Mubanga and Nachula back in June as they look to make a strong squad ahead of their 2020/2021 season. They became the third and fourth Africans at the Spanish outfit after Nigeria’s Peace Efih and Morocco’s Hanane Ait El-Haj.
Mubanga promised to work hard and she believes the sky is not the limit and her doing well in Spain may open doors for other Zambian players.
“I am excited to start my career at Zaragoza and promise to put in my best to make my country proud and also my new club. I am going there with Racheal is good for Zambian football because it will open doors for more players to play in Europe,” Mubanga said in an interview before departure for Spain on Friday.
“On my part, I will continue working hard and being determined because I believe the sky is not even the limit.”
Zaragoza started training for the new Segunda División Femenina season at the start of this week as they aim to win promotion to the Primera División Femenina.
