Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made the decision to postpone the African cup of Nations which was scheduled to take place in January 2021 to January 2022.

The decision to postpone the tournament stems from the emergence of the coronavirus disease which has affected many people worldwide and a lot of countries on the African continent.

CAF’s executive committee is of the view that because of the delay in completing the qualifiers, there wouldn’t be sufficient time to complete the rest of the qualifying matches which would’ve certainly affected the tournament which was supposed to be played next January.

With the decision to reschedule, the various countries will be afforded sufficient time to reorganize themselves towards the now 2022 AFCON.
