The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed Kaizer Chiefs’ appeal and confirmed FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) in the appeal filed together with the club’s former player Andriamirado Andrianarimanana. The appeal was heard on 9 September.

Part of the statement released by CAS reads: “The CAS Panel in charge of this matter has dismissed the appeal and confirmed the Challenged Decision in its entirety.”

The appeal followed the decision by the FIFA DRC which ruled that the player and Kaizer Chiefs entered into a new contract when the player was still under contract with Fosa Juniors FC from Madagascar. The FIFA DRC concluded that the player unilaterally terminated the employment contract with Fosa Juniors FC without just cause.

A four-month period of ineligibility was imposed on the player and Kaizer Chiefs was banned from registering any new players for two entire and consecutive registration periods.

Kaizer Chiefs has noted the decision and we will now focus on the new season with the current squad of registered players.
