Paris Saint-Germain have reported identified Bayern Munich defender David Alaba as a potential replacement for Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva who is expected to depart Paris on a free this summer.
The Austrian defender’s contract is set to expire in 2021 and according to Sky Sports the French side are unwilling to wait for his contract to run out as they look to bolster their squad for the 2020/2021 football season.
Having initially played as a left back, his signing will be quite beneficial to the French champions as he could deputise at the full back positions with PSG set to lose Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa. However, Bayern Munich may want to keep Alaba on their books which could prove to be a very difficult negotiation for the Paris-based club.
Over the weekend, Bayern Munich Sporting director expressed their desire to keep David Alaba at the club beyond 2021, he said: ‘We are very happy with how David has developed this season. He makes the defense boss and has become a personality.
‘We have already had a few conversations and will continue to talk to each other, but at the moment we are all concentrating on the sporting side.
‘Everything in its time – we will try everything and I think all parties know what they have in common. David knows what he has at Bayern and vice versa, of course.’
